Harbour Quilt Company Welcomes The Bernina Lady!

The Bernina Lady will be at Harbour Quilt Company about every six weeks or so.

***Her next visit will be June 16th, when she'll also be holding her Bernina classes!.

Join us in the celebration as Bernina Sewing Machines are welcomed to Antigonish. Machines featured this month will be the new ACTIVA 210, the AURORA 440 QUILTERS EDITION, with the revolutionary Bernina Stitch Regulator and the top of the line ARTISTA 730E (a Consumer's Digest Best Buy). Bernina Stitch Regulator, satin stitch, mock hand applique and blanket stitching.

It's been a busy month! Early in the month I joined the board of Antigonish Sustainable Development (as the youth coordinator), and I offered to make a quilted wallhanging and sell raffle tickets (to earn operating expense money). I had two nature panels already designed, so I designed two more that represent our area and you can see a photo of it at the top of this page. I love birds, so it is great fun for me to capture simple scenes and local birds. The top left is Sugar Loaf Mtn (in fall), and the top left is Pomquet Beach area with a Piping Plover. The bottom
left is Captain's Pond down our road, and the last one is a representation of our harbour, as I walk along South Side Harbour Rd. When we were Kayaking in Captain's pond, we were lucky to see many Blue Herons and a Kingfisher. The blocks surrounding it are 'Crossed Canoes'. Tickets are
available at the store all summer. I also will be publishing the blocks as separate wallhanging patterns, and plan to design many more.

I have been busy gardening and mowing (I bought a Lee Valley push mower), and am happy to report that I have now lost 18 lbs. It is a lot more fun to go clothes shopping, I can tell you.

We had our first bus tour this month, a group of Australian quilters. They were here for 28 minutes, but they did a good job of it! It was quite an experience for Dorinda, Brenda and me. The tourists are already out and about, and hopefully many of you can get to the shop during the beautiful but short summer months.
